Google Business Profile Not Showing? Eligibility, Verification and Common Problems

2 min readPopular fixes

A Business Profile not showing up usually comes down to one of a few things: eligibility, verification, incorrect data, a restriction, or a duplicate profile. Some of these you can fix quickly; others depend on Google’s review.

Eligibility comes first

A Google Business Profile is intended for businesses that make in-person contact with customers — for example a shop, office, restaurant or service business that serves customers at their location or visits them. Online-only businesses are not eligible for a Business Profile.

Before troubleshooting anything else, confirm your business genuinely qualifies. If it does not, the profile problem is not a technical fault that can be fixed by tweaking settings.

Verification

A new or unverified profile often will not appear publicly. Google verifies that you are authorised to represent the business, typically by postcard, phone, email or instant verification, depending on the business type.

Common problems that can be fixed

  • Incorrect name, address, phone or category — fix these to match reality.
  • Hours, services and descriptions that are missing or wrong.
  • A duplicate or old profile that should be removed or merged.
  • Ownership access that has not been granted to the right people.

Problems that depend on Google

  • A suspended or restricted profile — this usually requires a reinstatement request.
  • Verification delays — these follow Google’s process, not ours.
  • A profile that appears for some searches but not others, which can be normal local-result behaviour.

We do not encourage fake addresses, PO boxes as a business location, or presenting an online-only business as if it had a physical presence. Those practices violate Google’s guidelines and can lead to a profile being suspended.

What we can help with

We can help an eligible business set up, correct and strengthen an existing profile: accurate categories, services, hours, images and the link back to your website. We will be clear about what depends on Google and what we can actually change.

What to send us

Tell us what you see when you search for the business, whether the profile is verified, and any messages Google has shown you. That tells us whether this is an eligibility, verification or data problem.
