What Can a £12, £19, £29 or £39 Tech Fix Actually Cover?

2 min readPopular fixes

These are starting prices for straightforward, well-scoped jobs — not fixed prices for every task. The tier you need depends on how small and how bounded the work genuinely is.

£12 — micro-fix

For something genuinely tiny and mechanical. Examples: merge or split a small PDF, compress a PDF, reorder a few pages, a simple file conversion, a simple image resize or compression, a simple QR code, or a very small formatting correction.

A £12 job does not cover a redesign, a large OCR job, data recovery, a security investigation, a major website repair, a coding project, Linux recovery, server work or complex automation. Those start higher or are quoted.

£19 — quick fix

For clearly bounded work: a simple spreadsheet or formula repair, modest document formatting, basic PDF editing, a short transcript, simple video clipping, or small content cleanup.

£29 — practical fix

A sensible starting point for: a website content update, a basic contact-form fault, a simple DNS or email issue, software setup, straightforward PC help, a Google Business Profile update, simple navigation or link repair, or modest file and data cleanup.

£39 — technical quick fix

The first technical-support step: a small Python script, a simple Linux package or repository issue, basic network diagnosis, a small Git/GitHub fix, or slightly deeper remote troubleshooting. Higher-risk work is not forced into this tier.

When a quote is required

  • Work involving meaningful engineering, security, recovery or development time.
  • Migration, automation, multiple files, or external systems.
  • Prolonged troubleshooting or extensive testing.

Every low price is a “From” price unless the work is genuinely fixed-scope. Starting prices do not include third-party costs such as domains, hosting, software, subscriptions, paid APIs or stock assets.
